Mercantile Law


  • Mark Tait delivered a paper entitled “Airbnb in South Africa: Windfalls, Pitfalls and Regulation” at the 8th Advances in Hospitality and Tourism marketing and Management Conference in Bangkok, Thailand during June 2018.07.12.
  • Congratulations to Ms Tina Hokwana, who received her LLM at the April 2018 graduation.
  • Mr Siyabonga Sibisi who graduated with an LLM from UKZN on 20 April 2018.  On the photo he is with his supervisor Mr Khumalo
  • Prof A vd Walt, Mr Qotoyi, Mr D Abrahams( Public Law) and Ms T Hokwana presented Labour Law papers at the Conference of ILERA in Mauritius elvia March 2018.
  • A number of members of the Department are contributing authors to the second edition of the  LexisNexis title "Tourism and the law in South Africa." Anticipated the book will be published in 2019.
  • Mr T Qotoyi presented a paper titled "Collective Labour Law: Case Update" at the 30th Annual LexisNexis Labour Law Conference in August 2017. 
  • Dr Lynn Biggs has been selected as a participant of a Teaching Advancement at University (TAU) Fellowship for 2018. Congratulations for obtaining this national recognition.
