Mercantile Law

Welcome to the Department of Mercantile Law

The Department strives to provide a professional service to all our internal and external stakeholders. We are proud of the contribution the Department has made in the past, and continue to make, in building the reputation of the Nelson Mandela University's Faculty of Law.

The Department offers a range of modules in the LLB-programme. The Department also presents a number of service modules to other faculties, particularly service modules in commercial law to students in the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences. Two members of the Department are based in George in order to teach the commercial law service modules on that campus.

The Department is home to a number of specific programmes, including the following:

  • Post-graduate Diploma in Labour Law Practice
  • Master in Laws/Magister Legum in Labour Law (Course work and Research)
  • Master in Laws/Magister Legum in Mercantile Law (Research)
  • Master in Laws/Magister Legum in Taxation (Course work and Research)
  • Doctor of Laws/Doctor Legum: Mercantile Law (Research)
